I also assumed that the &quot;Agile Practice Guide&quot; supplement would become a mandatory part. I was also hoping for new types of questions, but apart from that, the topic didn&#039;t arouse much emotion in me.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>However, when I started to explore the reasons for the changes introduced and their scope,\u00a0<strong>the case became truly fascinating<\/strong>, and even dangerous (especially for people who plan to take the exam).<\/p>\n<p>The new formula of the PMP\u00ae exam is valid from the beginning of 2021 and is described in detail in the &quot;PMP\u00ae Exam Outline&quot; (Project Management Professional (PMP)\u00ae Examination Content Outline - January 2021) available on the PMI website.<\/p>\n<p>To fully understand the scope of the changes introduced, as well as the expectations placed on professional project managers and how their knowledge and skills are assessed, you should carefully read the introduction to this document.<\/p>\n<p>We read there that\u00a0<strong>PMI conducted a global practice analysis (GPA) that revealed a number of trends in the project management profession that were not captured in the previous version of the PMP\u00ae exam<\/strong>. Changes were therefore necessary for the exam to reliably reflect the behavioral patterns of professional project managers.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the changes introduced, we can observe significant differences between the &quot;Guide to the canon of project management knowledge (PMBOK\u00ae Guide)&quot; and the new version of the &quot;PMP\u00ae Exam Outline&quot;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does this mean for people preparing for certification?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"boc_spacing\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"boc_heading  al_left\">Scope of the PMP exam<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>The first and most important change is\u00a0<strong>the scope of material that needs to be mastered<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Because the team preparing the PMP\u00ae Exam Outline was a team independent of the creators of the PMBOK\u00ae Guide, the view of the project management profession goes well beyond that contained in the &quot;Guide to the Canon of Project Management Knowledge (PMBOK\u00ae Guide)&quot;.\u00a0<strong>Therefore, when preparing for the exam, we cannot limit ourselves to the knowledge contained only in the PMBOK\u00ae Guide<\/strong>. &quot;Agile Practice Guide&quot; - an addition to PMBOK\u00ae has become an equal source of knowledge, however, although it significantly expands it, it does not exhaust it. Research conducted as part of the above-mentioned analyzes confirmed that\u00a0<strong>Today&#039;s project management professionals run projects in a variety of environments and use different approaches<\/strong>. Therefore, in order for the new PMP\u00ae exam to reflect the situation described above, approximately half of the exam questions will concern the agile and hybrid approach to project management, and the other half will concern the predictive approach.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"boc_spacing\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"boc_heading  al_left\">PMP exam structure \u2013 scope of questions<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>The exam outline was structured as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Fields<\/p>\n<p>Tasks<\/p>\n<p>Enabling factors<\/p>\n<p><strong>Three areas have been defined in project management: People, Process, Business Environment.<\/strong>\u00a0The list below shows the percentage of questions from each field.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>People \u2013 42% questions<\/li>\n<li>Process \u2013 50% questions<\/li>\n<li>Business environment \u2013 8% questions<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Within each field, &quot;Tasks&quot;, i.e. the basic responsibilities within the field, are defined.<\/strong>\u00a0The number of tasks within individual fields is presented in the list below.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>People \u2013 14 Tasks<\/li>\n<li>Process \u2013 17 Tasks<\/li>\n<li>Business environment \u2013 4 Tasks<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>E.g. Task 1 in Domain I is Conflict Management.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For each task, &#039;Enablers&#039; were identified, i.e. examples showing the work involved in the task.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>E.g. Enabling factors for the \u201cConflict Management\u201d task are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understanding the source of the conflict and determining the stage at which it is located,<\/li>\n<li>Conflict context analysis,<\/li>\n<li>Assessing, proposing or agreeing on an appropriate way to resolve the conflict.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Attention!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Each set of exam questions includes all &quot;Tasks&quot; for each &quot;Domain&quot;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"boc_spacing\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"boc_heading  al_left\">Types of questions \u2013 PMP certification<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>Everyone who was preparing for the PMP\u00ae exam had to solve hundreds of sample questions, and all of them were constructed in the same way, i.e. choosing one correct answer out of four possible ones.\u00a0<strong>I think that for many people it was not only tiring, but also monotonous.<\/strong>\u00a0The same thing happened with the exam itself, although there was still some stress there. Nowadays, the exam is much more varied and therefore less boring.<\/p>\n<p>So we have questions like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choosing one correct answer,<\/li>\n<li>Truth false,<\/li>\n<li>Several correct answers,<\/li>\n<li>Filling in the gaps,<\/li>\n<li>Matching terms from two sets,<\/li>\n<li>Interactive work with charts and data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This change will undoubtedly make both preparing for and taking the exam less monotonous.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"boc_spacing\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"boc_heading  al_left\">Time and course of the PMP exam<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>The PMP\u00ae exam consists of 180 questions and lasts 230 minutes. In the entire pool, 5 questions are test questions, i.e. not included in the exam result (of course, the examinee does not know which of them are test questions).
